March Update

Hello  Friends,

We’ve had a busy month of March here at the sanctuary. We welcomed 21 hens after their previous owner passed away. When they arrived they were covered in parasites but they are feeling much better now after their first round of treatments. We rescued and welcomed a duck after he was dumped at a small pond near the Emerald Queen Casino. And lastly we welcomed a small flock consisting of two roosters and five hens who were being left behind because their owners were moving. We are enjoying this time getting to know everyone and seeing all their personalities.

Along with our new intakes we also had 13 animals find their forever homes this month! Piper and Storm went to a lovely home near Port Angeles and they are enjoying being spoiled and lounging on couches. Shirley and Leo found a beautiful home with one of our volunteers! Beau and Gonzo, two former cock fighting roosters each found homes of their own. These boys now each have a flock of their own to look after and do chickens things with. Last but not least, we had 7 hens find their new forever homes. Adoptions are often bittersweet but they are so necessary to our live saving work here at Heartwood Haven. Adoptions have allowed us to save 81 animals so far in 2021. Thank you for all of your support. You are making a difference in the lives of these precious souls.
