Fundraising Campaign for the Three Little Pig(lets)

Update: The fundraising campaign moved to Facebook. Please visit our fundraiser page here to donate.

Just under two weeks ago, Heartwood Haven expanded the sanctuary grounds once again, this time to intake three piglets in need of a new home. We were able to build a secure temporary barn using primarily recycled materials and a budget of $300 USD. They love their barn! This makes us feel great because we were surprised at just how small they were, and even though we planned (and built!) a large, fenced enclosure for them, for now they are staying in their barn as they get acclimated to us. Fortunately, they have great neighbors in Verne and Shirley to chatter with across fences.

Now that a few days have passed, we are looking toward the future for the piglet trio. Today, we launched a YouCaring campaign specifically to raise funds for robust fencing, a barn, spaying Wanda, and care-taking for the three rescued piglets. Wanda will be spayed at a great pig specialist vet, which will require a whole day trip for us. We are scheduling the surgery for one month out to make sure she is old enough. Pigs are really great at digging under fences and are super escape artists, so we need to install fencing that is either hog panels or post and rail fencing.

Please visit our YouCaring campaign and help us continue providing an improved, safe, and happy life for Wanda, Yoshi, and Koopa. If you are interested in donating by becoming a Patron or giving directly via Paypal, visit our Donate page to learn more about all of the ways you can give to the sanctuary. As a 501(c)(3), your donations to Heartwood Haven are tax-deductible.
